William Tevie Fund

August 2005
Appeal renewed September 2006

Dear Sir/Madam,

PLEASE LEND A HAND

About two years ago, the life of a man in his early forties and with a promising career ahead of him was dramatically changed as a result of a medical condition. As fate would decree, this young man’s high blood pressure condition deteriorated to an extent that threatened his very life. Through the Grace of God, he survived and continues to live, a fairly “normal” life.

His family and friends however know that the young man’s life is now far from “normal” because his medical condition resulted in the damage of his kidneys. Consequently, he now has to depend on a thrice-weekly visit to Korle Bu Hospital where a kidney Dialysis machine is used to perform the function of his failed organ to keep him alive.

The cost however, of the thrice-weekly visit to Korle Bu Hospital is in the region of ¢12 million per month and the resultant pressures and drain on our friend’s resources and family are without doubt very acute. The purpose of this letter therefore, is to solicit for funds to support our dear friend.

All contributions towards the payment of current bills at the Korle Bu Hospital will be graciously and thankfully received.

But that is not the end of this story. While the weekly sessions on the Dialysis machine are keeping our friend alive, there could be a more permanent solution to this condition, namely a kidney transplant. Conservative estimates for a kidney transplant operation together with costs associated with a donor and other medical tests is about US$100,000. The family has set up a fund and the contributions, being solicited are aimed at raising enough for a kidney transplant operation.

Contributions may be made directly to the William Tevie Fund at Prudential Bank, Ring Road Central, Account Number 590092002. Account Name: MOBA 78, Moba 78 undertakes to ensure that all funds collected will be exclusively used for purposes stated in this letter, and to subject the account to regular audits by qualified accountants.

PLEASE LEND A HAND AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR KIND ASSISTANCE.

From the friends and family of William Tevie (affectionately called “ABONGO”)

Yours sincerely,
