The
Kwabotwe Anthem - Dwin Hwe Kan - was composed specially to commemorate
the School Motto. It can best be described when you hear the whole
school singing it. The parts are just great!!!
In Adu Boahen's book, Mfantsipim and the Making of Ghana, page 175,
it is stated that the words of Dwin Hwe Kan composed by Graves and
Gaddiel Acquaah (the latter then a teacher of Mfantsipim) and adopted
sometime in 1908-1910 as the School Anthem were recited by Reverend
Wilson as follows:
O
think and look ahead dear boys Shout out our motto grand and free
Assist us, Tano, with thy voice, Re-echo Volta of the East Now
Raise three happy cheers for Mfantsipim School Hurray, Hurray,
Hurray.
The Song is now sung only in the Fanti original version. Unless
the lyrics changed at some point in time, the present version does
not talk about Volta of the East nor of Tano. There is also no mention
of the name Mfantsipim anywhere in the present rendition. However,
the spirit and the message behind the song is a clarion call on
all to put hands on deck to continue the great work of our forebears....
