Left
home just as the sun was coming up, I wanted to
make sure I enjoyed every minute of the dry spell
that was forecast.
Rode
through Regent's Park and Hyde Park to Green Park
to take a look at the RAF
Bomber Command Memorial. From there I headed
for the South Bank and County Hall. I Sat down on
a bench by the river and watched the city come to
life, brilliant.
I
was back in Fitzrovia when it started to drizzle,
timed it perfectly!
And
yes, I did have overtrousers with me this time.
:-)
Crossed the river on Lambeth
Bridge and rode past Lambeth Palace to County Hall
and the London Eye. I used Westminster Bridge to
get back to the North bank and rode through Parliament
Square onto Victoria Rd, turned right onto The Broadway,
past Scotland Yard and along Buckingham Gate to
the palace.
On
the way to Lambeth Bridge I rode over a dog that
darted in front of me as I was slowing down to stop
at a red light. The red light almost certainly saved
my a__, if I'd been going at full pelt I would have
come off for sure. The dog was fine.
I
was caught in a downpour in Hyde Park and got home
with my lower half soaked to the skin. Must remember
to pack waterproofs even when rain isn't forecast...
duh!
Short
night ride to Trafalgar Square to try out my new
front light. It's a lot better than the old one
but I think I'm going to have to upgrade it in the
not too distant future.

The
Novice Cyclist
I've
recently taken up cycling as a healthier option
to my long time hobbies of smoking, drinking
and general laying about and I must admit it
has been quite a revelation. For a middle aged
man who has spent his lifetime with the devout
belief that he is allergic to all forms of exercise
I find myself thoroughly enjoying this indulgent
pastime.
